In December, members of the BTCTB and their dogs will have a chance to participate in an American Temperament Testing Society (ATTS) Temperament test. Manatee Kennel Club will be holding the test, details will be posted closer to the date. This will be a chance to add the letters TT to your dog’s title. With today’s BSL and insurance issues, one good way to prove to insurers, landlords, neighbors and the courts that our dogs are sound and stable members of society, is to have a TT on your dog. The test simulates a walk in the park; the ten subtests within the test measure the dogs’ reaction to social, tactile and auditory stimulus, as well as their instinct for protectiveness. While the CGC test measures your dog’s manners and obedience, a TT is the measure of a dog’s character, disposition and personality. Temperament has been defined as” the sum total of all inborn and acquired physical and mental traits and talents which determines, forms and regulates behavior in the environment.” Members!
